As a family we realize that spending time in God's presence with the word and praying over God's promises is really important. To be rooted in God's word, it is important to discuss about what you learn from the word of God.

Do not make profit by using God [From John 2]

Why did Jesus charge out all those who were doing business in the temple?
It made total sense for the people to sell what ever they were selling at the temple. People needed stuff for the sacrifice and there was nothing wrong in selling whatever they needed for the sacrifice. But In v16, Jesus charges them out with a whip and says that "Take these things away and do not make My Father's house a house of merchandise!" This passage reflects who God is and what he expects from us. God is holy and he has given us his only begotten son who died for us. On top of all that God has done for us, he cannot accept us making profit for ourselves using his name. God expects self-denial from us and that is what Christianity is all about. If those people were giving those animals for free for sacrifice, would Jesus have charged those people out? The intentions of our heart is very important to God. When we come to God's house, we have to be careful in the way we deal with different things. God will not allow anyone to use him. We have to always humble ourselves and come to God and ask for forgiveness if we have had the attitude of using God for our own benefit.
